I. Overview:

In the aerobic biofluidized-bed process, three-dimensional hollow packing material is used as the aerobic biological carrier. The packing has a hollow structure and remains suspended in the water during normal operation. Anaerobic bacteria grow inside the packing, where denitrification occurs to remove nitrogen; aerobic bacteria grow on the exterior, degrading organic matter. Throughout the treatment process, nitrification and denitrification take place simultaneously.

II. Characteristics:

This fluidized-bed packing material is made from high-quality copolymer, which remains stable even after prolonged immersion in wastewater and does not exert toxic effects on microorganisms, making it superior to alternatives such as polyvinyl chloride.

3. Structure: This fluidized-bed packing features a unique design, with a hollow structure consisting of three concentric hollow rings—inner, middle, and outer. Each ring is equipped with one longitudinal rib, while the outer ring has 36 ribs. After extensive research and development, this design was successfully implemented using a single-step molding process. The hollow packing is buoyant, easy to replace, and boasts a long service life.

IV. Characteristics:

This fluidized-bed packing material features a high specific surface area: conventional microbial packing has a specific surface area of 90–180 m²/m³, while hollow packing can achieve as much as 600 m²/m³. The high specific surface area results in a high biomass concentration per unit volume, enabling highly active microorganisms to shorten the hydraulic retention time and deliver excellent treatment performance. Moreover, the microbial biofilm that develops on the packing surface is kept in a state of vigorous growth due to the continuous fluidization-induced collisions and aeration-induced scouring, leading to high treatment efficiency, strong denitrification and organic matter degradation capabilities, and effective removal of ammonia nitrogen.
