Biofilm process packing

We primarily provide a comprehensive range of ancillary products for water supply and wastewater treatment systems, including trash interception, chemical dosing and reaction, sedimentation, water collection, sludge removal, and filtration, as well as biological media and aerators for wastewater treatment projects.

I. Overview: Packing materials have evolved through multiple generations, from the first-generation flexible D1 type, through the second-generation flexible composite type, to the third-generation spherical suspended type. The classification into these three generations is not based on technological advancement but rather on the chronological order of their introduction. Flexible packing materials feature a large specific surface area and facilitate biofilm formation; however, they tend to agglomerate rapidly, resulting in reduced effective utilization over time. Neutral-type elastic rigid-fiber packing materials, by contrast, have a smaller specific surface area and require a longer period for biofilm attachment, yet they can effectively break down air bubbles, leading to higher oxygen transfer efficiency and more stable performance. Suspended-type packing materials do not require support structures—simply pour them into the tank—thereby reducing capital costs and allowing for adjustable dosing based on variations in water quality and flow rate; this represents their greatest advantage over other types of packing. Consequently, the first-, second-, and third-generation packing materials are not interchangeable and should be used individually or in combination, depending on the specific wastewater treatment process and effluent quality requirements.

Remarks When wall materials reach their service life or exhibit poor performance, they should be replaced promptly to prevent deterioration of material quality and excessive loading on the supporting structure.

III. Note:
1. Packing supports are available in rigid and flexible types and shall be appropriately configured based on the pool geometry and water quality.
2. During installation of suspended packing, the central rope shall be tightly tensioned in both the vertical and horizontal directions and securely knotted to prevent the packing elements from becoming entangled when slippage or loosening occurs.
3. Barrier screens shall be installed at the inlet and outlet openings of the suspended-media wastewater treatment system to prevent media from crossing between tanks or being lost.
4. Once the packing material is loaded into the tank, water must be introduced immediately to submerge it; exposure to direct sunlight is prohibited, and open-flame operations above the tank are not permitted when the tank is dry.
5. Store the packing material in a dry environment and keep it away from heat sources.
