Small-spacing inclined plates are an improved and evolved version of honeycomb inclined tubes, serving as a highly efficient sedimentation device.
I. Overview
The inclined-plate sedimentation process, based on the principle of shallow-tank sedimentation, has been increasingly refined and optimized in water purification technology. It enables the effective sedimentation and separation of suspended solids from turbid water under conditions of very low Reynolds numbers and optimal Froude numbers, thereby significantly enhancing the specific water production rate of treatment structures.
II. Advantages of Small-Pitch Inclined Plates
1. The close-spacing inclined plates are made of ethylene–propylene copolymer plastic, a material characterized by excellent toughness, high tolerance to large temperature differentials in the process medium, and good machinability and formability. 2. The close-spacing inclined plates are arranged in parallel, equidistant rows at a 60-degree angle on the support frame, with I-shaped stiffening ribs evenly spaced between the plates. This design ensures precise hole geometry, level installation, and effective laminar flow, thereby accelerating solid–liquid separation.
3. Compared with inclined-tube settlers, small-spacing inclined-plate settlers occupy less than half the flow area of inclined-tube settlers, thereby improving the utilization efficiency of the sedimentation tank.
4. The small-spacing inclined-plate holes are rectangular with parallel sides; compared with hexagonal inclined tubes of the same aperture, their elongated, flattened rectangular shape makes them less prone to clogging and enables them to accommodate a wider range of raw-water quality conditions.
5. Small-spacing inclined plates, reinforced by I-shaped ribs, offer advantages over inclined tubes, including higher strength, resistance to deformation, and longer service life.
